Sugarnellie GDT Honey Bee

Heres my next  Sugar Nellie Manga She is a total cutie by the name of Honey Bee Available from Funkykits  Ive coloured her with Copics and used Glossy accents to make the jar "glassy"

Layered the image on black mirri card and bright yellow bazzill Bling Added some spotty black ribbon and a teeny bee charm It was meant to have some handmade paper flowers but after making them I realised that the shade of yellow I had used just didnt match the yellow one the card so they will be recycled another time Think I'll use this for my mothers day card for my mother in law She likes handmade cards so I would get shot if I ever produced a shop bought one for her.
As always I really appreciate you stop by my blog and love when you leave a comment so dont be shy

Sugar Nellie GDT- Mary Hall Afternoon Tea

I seem to have been missing in action.
Haven't posted for a couple of weeks so am hopelessly behind with my Sugar Nellie Gdt posts Unfortunately life has a way of enforcing the "never rains but it pours" saying. I won't bore you with the details but hope to get back to posting more regularly very soon. Apoligies to everyone whose blogs I have neglected to post comments on too I will do soon soon, sorry
This is my final Mary Hall stamp from last months gdt stamps I was given. Its a real sweety called Afternoon Tea.
Available as always from Funkykits She is coloured with copics though I have to admit to not remembering the colours as she was coloured a a couple of weeks ago just never got made into a card til now. Cut out using a Marianne die and backed onto DCWV glitter paper and bazzill cardstock. I've also used the Marianne die for the label and some paper flowers that have small rhinestones added with a new toy, a hot gun gem setter Oh its so much easier than trying to fiddle putting glue on flat backed gems!
Not the fanciest of cards but hopefully the image is enough in itself. I know I love it.
Please call back soon as I have some great new Sugar Nellie images to play with and will try to be a better blogger Promise! Thanks for stopping by

Kraftin kimmie challenge -scoopy scallops

This is my card for the final February challenge over at Kraftin Kimmie.

I love this Cinderella stamp and have had a ball trying to acheive the shading I wanted on her gown. I've stuck to shades of warm grey with just a touch of red on her shoes and earrings. The image has been sitting coloured since Sunday but I just could not decide on the layout and papers for the card. I was at Glasgow SECC yesterday at the hobbycrafts show and bought various different backing papers but still couldn't decide so here I was again waiting til the last minute for inspiration When it did finally come I was well chuffed until I realised it was lacking a small detail SCALLOPS! which was pretty important as it was the theme of this weeks challenge. So pulled the card to bits (luckily the glue wasnt dry) and good ol' Martha Stewart came to the rescue, phew!
Anyway hope you like her and keep your fingers crossed for me as I have entered their guest designer for April competition but as there are some very talented crafters around  Im not holding my breath
Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it.

Sugar Nellie GDT-My Ted and Me

Todays card is the 2nd of 3 Mary Hall stamps new from Sugar Nellie This little cutie is called My Ted and me and is avaialble now fromFunkykits. I used a sketch for a challenge  and decorated with Wild Orchid Roses and silver leaves and a teddy bear charm from my stash
I thought I would paper piece this time just for a change.Stamped out first onto plain cardstock and coloured roughtly with copics.
Next I stamped out on a pink patterned paper and cut out her dress Finally I stamped ted again and coloured him first with Copics and then shaded the darker areas with dark brown prisma pencil I like this method for teddies as you can get a good rounded feel and teds have to look rotund I think
Now I have to admit to a bit of a disaster with my first attempt.
I had just about finished when a couple of promarkers rolled of the arm of the sofa. I bent down to pick them up came back and went back to finish my last bit of shading when suddenly browny red stuff started to drip all over the image. Ruined! Couldnt think what the heck was happening until I realised that one side of my newly coloured bob had ended up in my saucer of Sansador and had dripped hair colour onto my just finished creation. Sometime I just don't beleive the things I do!
So this is Ted and me #2 minus the  drips
Hope you like

Sugar Nellie GDT -Sweet Dreams

Todays card is a fab new stamp from Mary Hall for Sugar Nellie called Sweet Dreams. Its available now at Funky kits Now it could be used for a get well card or a birthday card its up to you. I've deliberately not put a sentiment on as yet to keep my options open

I've coloured the image with promarkers. Edged it with spun sugar distress ink and layered onto pink and lilac bazzill cardstock. I've used a Martha Stewart doily punch to edge it and  some Docraft papers as backing onto an easel card.
The card is embellished with Wild Orchid roses and a pink chiffon bow.
Hope you like it I have a couple more Mary Hall samples using some great new stamps so be sure to pop back later this week
Thanks for dropping by

SugarNellie GDT- Cow Girl

Todays card is a fabulous brand new stamp from Sugar Nellie called Cow Girl available now  from Funkykits Just perfect for those girls that just arn't into pretty and pink
I thought I would keep it pretty clean and simple though I could not resist using some of the gorgeous daisies I bought recently from  Joanna Sheen. They come plain white but I coloured the centres with apricot promarker Love them!

The image itself has been coloured with copics and Ive used lilac and blue bazzil card stock where I've added some faux stitching too aswell as some lilac ginham card. (One of these days I'll pluck up the courage to actually try and use the sewing machine I bought )
I cut the "Howdy" using funky foam and a cuttlebug alpha die
Also added a blue gingham ribbon I offset the image for a change and cos it seemed to balance the wording better
Thats it for now I will need to list the copics usedlater as Im rushing off to work just now and will link up to any challenges too

Kraftin kimmie challenge card

Another week come round already. Back to work today. I'm counting the days until Friday when I am off for 2 whole weeks, bliss!
First card of the week is for this weeks Kraftin Kimmie challenge This time it's in the form of a sketch from the very talented Elaine Hughes Having a sketch makes the card so much quicker as I am a real dither when it comes to deciding on a layout myself.  I sit and look at papers and stash for ages before I make my mind up. So having the layout already decided means I can actually get this entered at a reasonable time rather than with an hour or two to go (like last weeks!)
The stamp is a fab mermaid called Nerissa. She is coloured with Copics and cut out using a circle nestie  The papers are bazzill card stock for the layering and some papermania turquoise handmade paper. The dark blue paper was lying loose so I cant remember who its from but it reminded me of fish scales to it seemed appropriate. I used some glass pebbles for bubbles and a Spellbinders fancy label for the sentiment. I created the birthday fishes sentiment using my Xyron design runner and xdr pc link as I dont have any of Kraftin Kimmies fishy sentiments
Thanks for popping by for a look and a huge thankyou to those who are following my blog. Knowing there are lovely like minded people out there makes me feel less like I'm talking to myself

I cant for the life of me remember the make or name of the 2 patterned papers used oops and thegreen ribbon is from my stash
The only teeny deviation from the recipe is the addition  of an apple charm just cos I couldnt resist It just fitted the image so perfectly Rubbish photo but thats what you get for taking the shots at 11pm Why do I never finish at the right time?

Sugar nellie Little Farmer

Sorry havent been around for a few days but Im back with a brand new Sugar Nellie stamp not yet released but he will be available soon from Funky kits He is one of the country cousins from the home grown range and what a sweetie!

He looks so happy driving his wee tractor. A true farmer in training. Now I have to confess that despite having a son I am not the greatest fan of making male cards as it limits my scope for bling and flowers I mean no self respecting tractor driver was gonna thank me for pimping his ride! So I had to think outside my comfort zone on this one. Hopefully what I have come up with is tractor appropriate I actually quite liked using the beads, buttons and the twine as I do love different textures. This little boy and his toy have been coloured with a combination of promarkers and copics The papers used are trimcraft Animal Antics
and the rest of the embellishments are from my stash. He will be available to buy in March

Kraftin kimmie challenge

2 posts in one day is pretty unusual for me but am not at work and needed something to take my mind off things. So decided to take part of the Kraftin Kimmie weekly Challenge
Its a bit last minute as it ends tonight! but Im better when working to a deadline. I wanted to use a happy cheerful image so this one seemed to fit the bill The theme is to use "mainly red" Now I don't have many reds and wanted to graduate the colour but most of my red pens are strong colours so I resorted to using the blender pen and I quite like the effect
Used more sugar rush papers from Basic Grey. I am going have to buy another pad cos I really like them and they are almost all used up!  I wouldn't normally use such a large bow but the image is larger than life therefore the uber sized bow kinda fits. I was going to leave it at that but you know me so its got blinged suprised? no probably not

thanks for taking to time to visit I would love if you would leave a comment

Sugar Nellie Peace Angel

Morning Folks
This is my 5th Sugar Nellie card from the initial 5 stamps I received.

She is called Peace Angel from Diane Duda, available from Funkykits .She is such a wistful image and although Christmas springs to mind as a great time to use her I also thought she makes a great friends card for those times when you have a pal that needs a lift.
The image has been coloured mainly with promarkers as I really like the promarker orange range On the face and hair I've used copics and her wings have been painted with white mica. As usual my photography lets me down cos it doesn't capture the irridescent sheen which is really pretty (honest!)
I wanted to challenge myself to make a card with no flowers and no bling I did cheat just a teeny bit as the backround cardstock layers are both glittered but that was already there so as I didn't add the glitter I'm going to let myself away with it.

Thought I would make it an easel card. I had intended at first to make a twisted easel but I would have given in and added flowers (too much suface area for me to leave alone Im afraid) The card is layered with copper and green and the beautiful sentiment is a stamp that I layered on a nestie  Finished with American Crafts ribbon.
Ive really enjoyed making my first cards for the Sugar Nellie Design Team and would love you to leave a comment if you have been kind enough to stop by Hopefully I'll have a few more to share soon and just wait til you see the latest additions to the adorables range that will be appearing as digi images on March 1st Your'e going to love them

Sweetpea card

Hello Again Thanks for visiting Please leave me a comment so I know you have popped by.
Todays card is one of Ching Chou Kuiks Fantasy art collection from Sweetpea stamps I adore the artwork in this collection and never tire of making cards using the stamps
This one is called Dark Siren. I've coloured with Copics and teamed the image with some Prima cardstock The black filigree is felt fusion from my stash and boy is that stuff a b****r to get the backing off while trying to stick it down. It seem to want to stick to me way more than to the card!.

I made some "jewel accents"using Viva Decor gloss gel in green and made some more in graphite that I used on the dragonfly at the top of the card though it doesnt show up in the photo. Finished off with a Spellbinders fancy tag and a craftwork card sentiment

I've coloured her with Copics and promarkers and  have used some nestie circles to give a scallped circle background.
The paper used is Animal Antics First edition papers fromTrimcraft layered onto bazzil bling cardstock. I added some eyelets ands a Prima Amaruse flower plus a couple of Cherry blossom flowers from Wild Orchids that I've coloured with my copics to match the colour scheme of the card Its finished with a bow tied with my trusty bow easy.

Sugar Nellie- Leanne Ellis

I have had this card made up for a week but held back posting it as up until now they had been getting put up on the SN blog first but Ive now got the ok to post straight to my blog which is great
So here is my latest effort for the guest DT  at Sugar Nellie As usual can I remind you that if you like the stamp it can be found at Funkykits The  gorgeous stamp is called "Be One Traveller"
I've coloured the stamp with copics and the outside border and the eyepatch have been accented with Sakura Starburst pens in red and green. Used a nestie to cut the image out and layered it on a slightly larged nestie rectangle in black

The background papers are from a  Basic Grey Sugar Rush 6X6 pad. One of my favourites. I have also used tea roses and 20mm roses from Wild Orchid. The tearose started off life as red but the smaller ones I coloured will a poppy red promarker. I find it more cost effective to buy mainly white or cream flowers then colour them to suit the card Im making.
The only down side is the constantly odd looks I get at my promarker stained fingers! I've also used rose buds in pink and white
The little charm was made using a length of chain and a teeny heart stone Its all backed with Bazzil bling card .Oh and a swirl die for the black flourishes
I have entered the card in the following challenges

Sugar Nellie Simply Sassy

Next offering for Sugar Nellie. This is "I love to read" from the fabuous Simply Sassy range available at Funky kits. Now I must be honest before this I hadnt dipped my toe in these stamps, What was I thinking!

I loved colouring this image She is just so fun and happy looking and Lurve those Eyes! I wanted the rest of the card to reflect the fun feel of the image so went for some bright papers from K&Co layered onto coloured bazzill carstock. I've edged the mat with stickles and made her glasses "glassy" by using Glossy Accents  The bow is seam binding from Wild Orchid crafts. The flowers, sentiment and brads are from my stash

A couple of blog visitors have been kind enough to ask me to list the various colours used so I will try to remember to do that from now on though I am dreadfully forgetful and often dont write it down

Sweetpea challenge

Thought I would use another of my all time favourite stamps today for the latest Sweetpea challenge  I adore Ching chou Kuiks artwork and Love the stamps made from it This stamp is called "Come softly" Stamped onto Craftwork Digital cardstock then coloured with copics and promarkers.

The  main card is edged with perfect pearls mica as are the roses though it doesnt show too well on the photo. The image is layered on bazzill bling cardstock and the corners stamped with a stempelglede grunge stamp   Tied the bow using the bow easy Its not so great for wider ribbon as the  prongs aren't deep enough but got there in the end after a lot of fiddling and cursing! The challenge this week over at In a Sweetpea dream is "talk to me" to use a sentiment on the outside or inside of your card .So I printed the wording "beautiful butterfly" onto Safmat (love it!) and placed it on the side of the card

Sugar nellie- Leanne Ellis

Cant believe another week is gone. Had a busy weekend and I am now the proud owner of a shiney new car Woohoo! I was really impressed that the reg plate started SP (as in sugarplum) but have since found out that the garage managed to balls up and the reg plate should actually start ST, OOPS! so back to the dealership today so they can put it right
Anyway enough of me back to the important stuff .Another card for Sugar Nellie This time it's one of Leanne Ellis' wonderful stamps available from Funkykits  The image is called "To remember" Tried to keep it simple as the image is so lovely So coloured with Copics and promarkers on white card then embossed theimage with cosmic shimmer embossing  powder onto black cardstock Cut out the main image from the black card and layered over the white coloured image.

It was then layered onto  some white cardstock embossed with cuttlebug folders. Finished with  some velvet ribbon tied with my bowmaker and black pearls Entered in this weeks challenge on  papertake weekly as the theme is ribbon and pearls Well I had to have a teeny bit of blingieness (is that even a word?) Hope you like

SUGAR NELLIE - JOY

First card made as a guest designer for Sugar Nellie
This is the very lovely Joy. One of the new Adorables range that are available both as a digi or rubber stamp over at Funky kits  The difference with the Adorables is that the images already have shading which makes colouring them so easy (though I still had to use 4 shades in her hair just cos I love playing about with my pens! ) I've set off the image in  a spellbinders frame and used some Wild Orchid flowers, a punched butterfly and some ribbon from my stash The flowers and butterfly have been liberally stickled as I find it hard to resist the bling!
I have entered her in  a couple of challenges Papertake weekly challenge

Sugarplums Sugar Nellie news

Just a quick post to let you know my news. I am now officailly a guest design team member for

                                           ******* SUGAR NELLIE***********

OMG! You can't imagine how shocked, thrilled, and excited I was when I heard the news. I never thought I stood a chance as there as so many fantastic talented card makers out there. My poor son thinks I have gone slightly mad as I cant stop grinning and doing my little "happy dance" which he finds incredibly embarassing!

I haven't had time to make a card to celebrate but just wanted to say a huge thankyou to Karen for offering me this opportunity and I hope I can live up to expectations. I know I am really looking forward to trying

First card of 2011

At a loose end to today all the boring houseworky things done so had a go at the latest Lili of the valley challenge This week it is a card sketch Used some lime rickey paper along with some bazzil bling cardstock in lime and teal (try as I might I just cannot get the colours to show true in the photo so eventually resorted to adjusting the contrast a bit and it looks more like the actual colours now).
The LOTV image is coloured with promarkers and I stardust stained some Wild orchid roses to colour match them Added a sparkly flourish cos I cant resist bling.
Looking forward to the new Lotv releases on Tuesday even though I promised myself I would buy any more stamps for a while (who was I kidding?) Thanks for looking.
